Supported Living Coordinator

Department: Supported Living

Hours: Full-time position

Description of Position:
The Supported Living Coordinator oversees the Supported Living Department. They are responsible for the supervision of the QIDPS in the Supported Living department. The Supported Living Coordinator oversees appropriate staffing, staff hours, assists with hiring needs and conducts monthly reviews. They ensure trainings, inspections, and plans of care are appropriate and complete. The Supported Living Coordinator ensures that medical care for the consumers is complete and up to date and all other needs are met.

Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in human/social services, business management/supervision, leadership.

Experience Required:
Prior experience in developing and implementing individual programs, program evaluations, and working in a team environment. Must have good decision-making and time management skills and be responsible, mature, and flexible. Must have supervision experience and be detail orientated.

Janitorial Supervisor

Department: Day Services

Hours: 8:00 am- 4:30 pm

Description of Position:

Manage janitorial staff as well as their schedules for deep cleaning, maintenance of a sanitized work environment    and spot checking. Complete janitorial duties as assigned. Complete local service deliveries and pick-ups of industries goods as needed. Move materials needed from East to Main to maintain a steady job flow for clients served. Driving Box Truck with air breaks, pantry trucks, sign shop van, and other TradeWinds vehicles as needed. Install signs sparingly on a scheduled basis. Remain in compliance with all regulatory and accrediting entities.

Education Requirements:  Must have a driver’s license needed to operate the vehicles they oversee and maintain a valid driver’s license; Must be at least 21 years of age.

Experience:   Two years management experience preferred.

Additional Requirements:  Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.

Early HeadStart Teacher ages 2yrs old

Department: Children Services

Hours: Monday-Friday; 9:00 am- 5:30 pm (hours will vary)

Description of Position:
The Lead Teacher and the Assistant Teacher are responsible for the care and education of a group of children as part of a teaching team. They are responsible for supervising and caring for children 2 years of age, that are enrolled in the TradeWinds Little EHS Childcare program. They are responsible to plan and implement the curriculum in accordance with TradeWinds and Childcare Partnership Partner, Geminus. This position requires active participation with the children, families, and other members of the teaching team to assess and address the needs of individual children.
Education Requirements: CDA/ Associate’s /bachelor’s degree in early childhood or Elementary Education; Must meet childcare licensing requirements; Must be at least 21 years of age.
Experience: Must have at least three (3) months experience with children in a classroom setting
Additional Requirements: Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.

Summer Camp Assistant 5 Temporary Positions

Department: Children Services

Hours: Must be avaliable from 7:30AM-5:00PM Monday-Friday and be available for the full 9 weeks of camp.

Description of Position:

Camp Assistants are responsible for supervising and caring for children ages 5 through 17 years of age that are enrolled in our summer programs.  They are responsible for assisting with planning and implementing the curriculum in accordance with TradeWinds Services.  This position may include driving a 12-passenger bus to and from field trip sites.

 

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

Experience Required:   Experience with school-age children, school- based settings and/or special needs populations (preferred) 21 years of age or a junior in college.

 

Position Reports to:          Camp Lead

 

Additional Information:

Part-Time ADAPT ADULT TRAINER

ADAPT ADULT TRAINER
TradeWinds Services, located in Merrillville, has a part-time position as an ADAPT Adult Trainer, working with adults with developmental and physical disabilities. This position will train, teach, and work with participants in the ADAPT (Adult Day Activity Program & Training) program.

Description of Position – Feeding, toileting, group facilitation, some lifting, and positioning. Responsible for individual activities. Provide a wide range of activities, which could include such things as gross and fine motor skill activities, games, art/craft activities, mobility, exercise, nutrition, and recreation, and leisure activities.  The trainer position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Documentation – Daily or monthly as required by the state regarding feeding and activity schedules, medications, billing, etc. Incident reports.

Education/Certification RequirementsHigh School Diploma or equivalent. Must be able to pass drug screening and criminal background check.

MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT – PART-TIME

TradeWinds Services, Inc, located in Merrillville has a part-time Maintenance Assistant position in the Building & Grounds department, Monday – Friday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, some evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required.

Responsible for the appearance, safety, and maintenance of the main center and residential sites owned by TradeWinds. Plan & perform maintenance for all sites owned/operated by TradeWinds Services Inc.

Minimum high school diploma or equivalent, knowledge of building trades, must have a valid driver’s license. Experience in industrial and institutional maintenance repairs, experience with building trades, and the ability to use power tools/maintenance equipment.

TradeWinds Service, Inc. located in Merrillville, IN has a full-time position for a Residential Group Home Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional.

Description of Position:  The Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional is responsible for the monitoring, integration, implementation, and coordination of services consisting of a comprehensive functional assessment of the program services.  Ultimately, the QIDP is responsible for ensuring the provisions of a consistent and aggressive active treatment program for the consumers. The QIDP also supervises the Direct Support Professionals and works cooperatively with the residential center nurse.
Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in human services or related academic disciplines (e.g., psychology, sociology, education, or human development).
Experience Required: Prior experience in developing and implementing individual programs, program evaluations, and working in a team environment.  Must have good decision-making and time management skills and be responsible, mature, and flexible.

Curriculum Specialist

Department: ADAPT & General Production

Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m.– 4:00 p.m.

Description of Position: – Develop A.D.A.P.T & Pre-Vocational skill-based curriculum for adults with intellectual disabilities.  Provide training, modeling, and monitoring of the curriculum implementation with the A.D.A.P.T and Pre-Vocational Trainers.  Research and develop hands on training opportunities or job trials in the center and community settings for participants to develop skills within an integrated community setting.  Ensure daily curriculum/lesson plans for ADAPT and Prevocational departments. Lessons plans should be detailed oriented and include directions and steps as well as ordering supplies for day programs. Monitor and track outcomes or effectiveness of curriculum; develop accommodations as needed as well as curriculum enhancement.

 

Education/Certification Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Education / Special Education, or related field.

 

Experience Required:

Curriculum writing experience or similar writing experience. Two years working with people with disabilities preferred.

This is a substitute position to fill in as needed, working with adults with developmental disabilities.

Description of Position:   Responsible to train participants based on their individual pre-vocational goals as identified in their Individual Service Plans.  In addition, provide training to enable the person served to maximize their performance on a variety of production jobs.  Job accommodations and daily written documentation are required regarding participants’ progress and related service issues.  Participation in consumer person-centered planning meetings is required.

Education Requirements:   Minimum High school diploma or GED; post-secondary/training preferred.

Experience Required:  Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in education and/or teacher’s aide experience. Shipping experience preferred.  Must be able to multi-task as well as effectively communicate both orally and written.  Must be able to objectively and calmly handle crisis situations.

Respite Care offers caregivers of children and adults with disabilities the opportunity for a short-term break to care for themselves, spend time with other family members, or have the freedom to run errands without worry. Our Respite Care staff takes individuals with special needs on outings to community-based activities, shopping, bowling, theaters, etc. Respite care can also be provided in-home or at a TradeWinds Respite Apartment.
